KRONBORG CHESS OPEN 2025

INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT

Kronborg Chess Open is an international chess tournament with a total prize sum is over DKK 20,000 (€3.000), depending on the number of participants.
 
In 2022-2024, the tournament was Denmarks largest international Chess Tournament with participants from many different nations. We had participants from Norway, Sweden, China, Singapore, Holland, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, France, Ukraine, Italy, Faroe Islands, Indonesia, India and of course Denmark. We are therefore looking forward to see as many nationalities and levels together with Danish chess players in this years Tournament.

ROUND ROBIN CHESS TOURNAMENT
The tournament is divided into groups of 8 players Round Robin. The group selection is according to the Danish National rating. If you have an FIDE/ELO rating it will be equated with the Danish rating. The report time is 90 minutes to each player for the whole game + 30 seconds increment per. move. Note there is no extra time added after move 40. The lowest rated group can be played as Monrad depending on the number of participants

Round 7       |    1st June  10.00 – 14.30
Award ceremony   12th May 14.30 – 

PLAYING VENUE
Comwell Borupgård, Nørrevej 80, 3070 Snekkersten
(Hotel Comwell Borupgaard, Noerrevej 80, 3070 Snekkersten)
There is an opportunity for accommodation at Comwell at a special rate in connection with the tournament. 
 
RATE OF PLAY
90 minutes per player for the whole game plus 30 seconds increment for every move played starting from the first move.
Note: You are allowed to be up to 1 hour late for your game. Further delay means that you lose your game.
 
TOURNAMENT
7 rounds Round Robin in Groups of 8 | The lowest ranking group is played as Monrad system if there are more than 8 players.
The winner of the top group is awarded the title Kronborg Master. Placing are determined by 1. mutual confrontation / 2. Winnings / 3. Sonneborn-Berger correction if the score is tied.
 
ENTRY FEE
All classes DKK 600 (€80)
GM, WGM, IM, WIM players have free entry fee

GRAND MASTER CLASS (GM1)
1st prize DKK 5,000 (€670) | 2nd prize, DKK 2,000 (€270)
 
MASTER CLASS 1 (M1)
1st prize DKK 2,500 (€335)| 2nd prize DKK 1,500 (€200)
 
MASTER CLASS 2-4 (M2-M4)
1st prize DKK 2,000 (€270) | 2nd prize DKK 1,200 (€160)
 
BASIC CLASSES
1st prize DKK 1,200 (€160) | 2nd prize DKK 800 (€107)
 
BASIC CLASS (If played as Monrad)
1st prize DKK 1,200 (€160) | 2nd prize DKK 800 (€107) | 3rd prize DKK 500 (€67)
 
The above prizes are at a participant number of min. 72. There may be adjustments in prizes depending on the participant numbers and rating level.
